Winters are here and so is the biting cold accompanying them. For all you pretty women out there who love to look their stunning best even in these frosty bearings, we give you a lowdown on how to do your ethnic wear perfect in this season!

First things first. Winter weddings are here and for all of us who love the merrymaking and elaborate ceremonies around these weddings love planning the best of our outfits for these functions. After all, we would want to have a stellar appearance! Wedding festivities mean ethnic wear. Without dressing up in those ethereal traditional outfits, one never gets the feel of the fun and frolic.

The thing though with winters is as the temperatures drop, the clothing on us increases manifold. Lot of people have a tough time deciding what to wear because hey, we don’t want to cover our lovely Bollywood style lehengas or that gorgeous saree or kurta with some hideous sweater or coat!
But by teaming your outfit with the right kind of layering you are sure to look dazzling at those weddings! Fret not, by layering we don’t mean stuffing heaps of woolens like our Mums made us do back in our childhood!!

We’ll let you in on some easy hacks to spruce up your ethnic dresses even in the chill of winters!

To begin with, this is the season to dress up in bright, full of life colors. So make sure your winter ethnics are in lively hues of red, orange, wine, plum, burgundy, magenta, fuschias, royal blue, bottle green and the likes.

Anarkali

Pair your anarkali with a long shrug or overall. This will give you a very contemporary and aesthetic look and will safely protect you from that biting cold.

Sarees

Sarees are multifaceted attires that make you look resplendent in every way! You only need to choose the right set of tones and style that complement the essence of your self and you’d leave a smoldering impression just like that. And so, it is fairly necessary to team this saree well in winters so as to not marr its charisma. Drape a co-ordinating or a matching shawl onto your saree or just throw in an attractive stole. You could go for an embroidered pashmina or an angora shawl or a stylish Kalamkari stole.

Pastel colored cardigans or funky crop-tops are very much in vogue to team up with your saree in this season! Choose sarees that have velvet, silk, satin, brocade or jacquard- they’d imbibe warmth and splendor seamlessly.

Kurtis

If you like wearing kurtis to work, outing or even as your regular wear, here are lot of options to match up your dress with. Settle upon a nice long sleeve silk kurti and complementing palazzos. You could also go with long kurtas and woolen leggings. Kurtis with contrasting bottoms will enhance your look in this season.

If a kurti is what you are planning to wear for that next wedding but winters are playing spoilsport, we’ve got your back! Pair your kurti with a heavy bright coloured dupatta and you are sure to leave one hell of an impression! Phulkari dupattas are very ornate in their designing and you should definitely try them with your ethnics!  Nehru jackets look extremely dapper with kurti-leggings.

Lehengas

Plan on wearing a detailed lehenga this winter wedding? Well you absolutely can. Choose your lehenga in red, burgundy, orange or soft gold with tassels and just couple it with traditional embroidery or brocade jackets. You can also pull of your lehenga look with ethnic banarasi trench coats.

And finally, accessorize your dress with box clutches, choker bags or potli bags. German silver accessories, pearl sets or a polka set will accentuate your oomph factor at the wedding! And for footwear, slip into jootis or mojris to complete that ethnic look an also keep your feet warm!
