LAKME FASHION WEEK WINTER FESTIVE 2016 HIGHLIGHTS

LAKME FASHION WEEK WINTER FESTIVE 2016 HIGHLIGHTS

The recently concluded LAKME FASHION WEEK WINTER FESTIVE 2016 was an impressive aria of drama and design. Talented designers from the Indian fashion frat as well as some young budding designers came together to put of a full house of stunning couture and pret styles on the runway at St Regis, Mumbai. A decent sprinkling of Bollywood glam added to the glory of this 5 day extravaganza and ensured there was never a dull moment at the LFW 2016. While all the collections were completely gorgeous in their own right, here are a few highlights from the Fashion Week that we couldn't help but curate for you.

ANUSHREE REDDY

Anushree Reddy's 'The Wedding Chronicle' was a visual treat and a must watch for every bride-to-be at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016. The ensembles were a perfect fit for wedding trousseau and would definitely make the bride-to-be feel like a royal princess on her big day. Bollywood beauty Shilpa Shetty looked ethereal as she walked for Anushree in this red and gold ensemble.

TARUN TAHILIANI

Tarun Tahiliani's collection was a breathtaking fusion of drama and sensuality. His collection inspired by noted sculptor Mrinalini Mukherjee’s life size hemp and cast bronze sculptures was one of the talking points of LFW.  Tahiliani breathed life into the artwork's inspired organic motifs - we saw a restrained elegance about the various layers in his subtle yet strong collection.

SHANTANU AND NIKHIL

A personal favorite, Shantanu and Nikhil outdid themselves with this absolutely breathtaking collection of drapes and ruffles. We especially loved the menswear collection by the talented duo which definitely gave more options in Traditional wear for the dapper men than the regular kurtas, bundgalas or dhotis.

SVA BY SONAM AND PARAS MODI

The showstopper Prachi Desai in a cape style off shoulder dress gave a much deserved lift to this collection that had hints of modern and ancestral. Beautiful colors and flowing skirts made the ensembles look very apt for the festive season.

 PAYAL KHANDWALA

Payal Khandwala's  "The New Emperor", was conceptualized to present fierce, fashion, modern hair and makeup looks for the daring New Age Indian bride. It showcased a shift in power play where the bride is the emperor. We saw strong metallic accents and lots of brocades in jewel tones which set the tone right for the festive season ahead.

MANISH MALHOTRA

His grandiose collection with avant-garde twists brought contemporary and classic together. We saw  jacket-saris; lehengas paired with sheer crop blouses and draped dupattas on contemporary anarkalis. Manish's collection was elegant with a youthful burst of floral power as could be seen on a very jovial Shraddha Kapoor.

SIDDHARTHA BANSAL

His busy prints and colorful colors stood out on long bohemian skirts, off shoulder blouses, tunics and much more. We loved the happy vibes that could be felt as the models sashayed down the ramp in some interesting prints and eclectic maxis.

SABYASACHI MUKHERJEE

The five day spectacle came to a befitting climax with Sabyasachi closing the fashion week in his trademark regal  style. His signature gold hues apart, we saw some interesting use of Velvets in pants and the rest of the collection of Illuminate featured heavily embroidered anarkalis, suits, cocktail dresses and lehengas and sarees. A very glowing and visibly pregnant showstopper Kareena looked stunning in a long kurta style choli with lehenga as his divaesque showstopper.

These were some of the highlights from LFW 2016, Winter Festive that showcased some of the finest bridal and festive styles that will rule this season. Now you can also shop some gorgeous fashion week inspired styles only at PEACHMODE, where fashion is the only passion!
