10 Min Sweet Recipe This Diwali!

It’s that festive time of the year again – celebrations, lights, sweets, and chocolates. It’s Diwali. No celebration in India is complete without a touch of sweet. Sweets, sweets and more sweets! Diets usually go for a toss during Diwali while we guiltily indulge ourselves. Celebrations include decorating houses, wearing new clothes, bursting crackers and cooking and eating toothsome foods.

So we have noted down 3 quick diwali recipes that anyone can make within 10 minutes of their daytime chores. Welcome your guests and let your kids have these home cooked delicious traditional diwali recipes for a fun filled celebrations of Diwali!

 

1. Chocolate with Dried Fruit and Nuts

Chocolates are insanely addictive.. one chunk of it is never enough! Apart from being everybody's favorite it does have a lot of health benefits and can be cooked in interesting ways.

Melt 500 grams of dark cooking chocolate in micro for 1 minute, spread thinly on lined tray and sprinkle with chopped nuts and keep in refrigerator for 4 - 6 hours. Cut in uneven pieces and pack!

 

2. Badam Halwa and Barfis

Badam Halwa is a rich and delicious Indian sweet made with pureed almonds, ghee, sugar and saffron. To make a vegan version, just skip milk and use water for blending, replace ghee with coconut oil of your choice.

Strain and grind the 75 gm poppy seeds soaked in milk, combine with 125 gm soaked, blanched and ground almonds, cardamom and 1l milk, blend until smooth. Cook on a slow flame. Once the mixture thickens add 125 gm khoya, 200 gm sugar and 1/4 tsp saffron. Add the 200 gm ghee and continue cooking until the mixture leaves the sides of the pan. Serve hot as halwa!

 

3. Rava Kheer

An easy to make Indian dessert full with the goodness of dry fruits, milk, semolina(sooji) and aromatic cardamoms. Rava Kheer or Sooji kheer is a very healthy and easily digestive Indian kheer recipe. It is also known as Sooji ki Kheer.

Roast 1/4 cup rava (semolina) till slightly covered, add 1 kg full cream milk and bring to a boil. Lower the heat keep stirring to avoid scorching. Add 1/2 cup sugar followed by dry fruits, a pinch of saffron and 2-3 green cardamom. Cook for another 5 minutes and it's ready to serve!
