The nine days of Navratri are synonymous with Durga Puja and the extensively celebrated Pujo festival of North East India, Assam and West Bengal. Although Navratri, the festival of women power is celebrated four times a year, the one that coincides with Durga Puja is the grandest. This festival celebrates the victory of Maa Durga over the cruel demon Mahisasura. Durga Puja ends with Navratri culminating into Dussehra.

Goddess- Maa Shailputri
Devotees worship Maa Shailputri today, the daughter of Himalaya, marking the first day of the sacred festival. Shailputri took birth after the self-immolation of Devi Sati. Characterised by a lotus flower and a trishul, this avatar of Maa Durga is believed to bless you with all forms of strength and valour to lead a substantial and worthwhile life.
Worshipping Shailputri also negates any ill-omens.

Goddess- Maa Brahmacharini
Maa Brahmacharini is the unmarried form of Devi Sati- an incarnation of Maa Parvati as daughter of the mighty king Daksh Prajapati. Characterised by a jap mala and Kamandal, the Goddess is always barefoot. She governs Lord Mangal and worshipping her with true devotion brings immense calm and stability to devotees’ lives.

Goddess- Maa Chandraghanta
Maa Chandraghanta is the married avatar of Maa Parvati after her wedding to Lord Shiva. As a symbol of a married woman, she begun adorning her forehead with a half-moon bindi and hence came to be identified as Chandraghanta.
Maa chandraghanta is the governing force of Shukra Griha. So devotees whoa are affected by Shukra Paksha or want to appease it should worship the deity on the third day. Worshipping her also brings immense prosperity and success.

Color- Royal Blue
Goddess- Maa Kushmanda
Maa Kushmanda is the daughter of Sun god residing in the center of the sun and imparting energy, intellect and power to the devotees. She is often characterised by pure glow and radiance. She is also believed to be the co-creator of the universe.
Worshipping the Goddess on this day keeps you in good shape and health and also keeps your cosmic balance with the surroundings.

Goddess- Maa Skandmata
Maa Skandmata is the form of Maa Parvati where she was the mother of Lord Kartikeya. Identified as the Godddess riding on the top of a ferocious lion, she is characterised by a white complexion with an infant in her hand. Worshipping her on this day is also a pious way of worshipping Lord Kartikeya.

Goddess- Maa Katyayani
Maa Katyayani was the fearless form of Maa Parvati who took birth to assassin the brutal demon Mahisasura. Born to sage Katya, she was bold and fearless. She is identified as the warrior Goddess in this avatar. Characterised by a lotus flower in one hand and a sword in the other, she is the embodiment of valour and courage.
Unmarried girls seeking a rightful groom should worship the Goddess on this day. Devotees are also blessed with a healthy and hurdle-free life by worshipping Maa Katyayani.

Goddess- Maa Kalratri

Maa Kalratri governs the planet shani and devotees looking at pacifying the effect of Shani should worship the Goddess on the seventh day. She brings enlightenment to the soul of the devotees.

Goddess- Maa Siddhidatri
Worshipped on the 9th and the final day of Navratri, Maa Siddhidatri is the avatar of Adi Shakti, the other half of Lord Shiva. She bestows 26 diverse kinds of wishes (siddhis) on her true devotees. She is worshipped by not only humans but also by Deva, Gandharva, Asura, Yaksha and Siddha. Lord Shiva got the title of Ardha-Narishwar when Goddess Siddhidatri appeared from his left half.
