From being just another girl in her medical college to being crowned as the most beautiful woman in the world, Manushi Chillar's life looks like the stuff fairytales are made up of. The journey has been truly fabulous for the gorgeous diva and deservingly so. Bringing the crown back home after a long wait of 17 years, this 20 year old diva has won hearts and done our nation proud with her beauty and charm.

Manushi Chhillar is the sixth Indian woman to be crowned Miss World, after Reita Fario in 1966, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 1994, Diana Haydon in 1997, Yukta Mookhey in 1999 and finally Priyanka Chopra in 2000. The crown was passed to her by last year’s Puerto Rican winner, Stephanie Del Valle. The journey has not been easy and Manushi deserves all the credit for her hard work and consistency right after winning Miss India World back in June 2017.

 Born to doctor parents from Rohtak, father – Dr. Mitra Basu Chhillar, who is a scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organization, and mother, Dr. Neelam Chhillar, who is an associate professor and department head of neurochemistry at the Institute of Human Behavior and Allied Sciences, it was only natural for Manushi to pick up a career as a doctor. After her studies at St Thomas’ School in New Delhi she went on to pursue a medical degree at the Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonipat. It was after winning campus titles as Miss photogenic and Miss Campus princess that the desire to be at a world pageant gathered steam in her heart. After hearing about the Miss India contest, Manushi decided to give her dream wings. She would wake up before other girls in college to work out before her classes would begin and would resume her grooming after campus hours ended.

Manushi isn't just about good looks and an appealing personality. The young diva has also contibuted to a lot of social causes including ‘Project Shakti’, an initiative to financially empower rural women and create livelihood opportunities for them. The program was aimed at spreading awareness on menstrual hygiene. For the initiative she has also visited 20 villages and made a difference to 5,000 lives.

Although ,Manushi loves Bollywood movies, especially DDLJ, she has no immediate plans to join the film industry. She would however like to work in an Aamir Khan movie. Manushi is truly a multi talented girl. She is a gifted painter cum poet, she is also a trained Kuchipudi dancer who showed her graceful moves on the stage of Fbb Femina Miss India 2017 too.

Manushi has her dreams set for the stars with her feet firmly planted to the ground. With a dream to make India proud always, her values and roots are very traditional. The stunner got the crown with her heart warming reply in the final round to the question- “Which profession deserves the highest salary and why?” to which Manushi answered- “I think a mother is of the highest respect. I don’t think it’s just about cash but love and respect she gives to someone. She is the biggest inspiration in my life. Mother should get highest salary and respect.”
