They say 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness' and we Indians, who are officially residents of God's own country, have been living  ignorant in one of the most unclean environments for a long long time. Be it roads, rivers, villages, toilets, there is a lot of scope for improvement in the levels of cleanliness everywhere.

With the formation NDA Government in 2014, Prime Minister NARENDRA MODI launched an extensive cleanliness program in the country called Swachh Bharat Mission launched to make India clean and open-defecation free by 2019. It was an idea propagated by our FATHER OF THE NATION MAHATMA GANDHI and the Government wanted BAPU's dream to become a reality soon.PM Narendra Modi being a firm advocate of technology and advancement, decided to go digital and launched the “Swachh Bharat App (Clean India App)” to tap India's approximately 143 Million Smartphone Users who have access to Internet on 2G and 3G mobile platforms. This was his way of connecting everyone to a cause that needs immediate and united attention by one and all.

With this App, users can  post a civic-related issue (eg; a garbage dump) which gets forwarded to the city corporation concerned and thereafter assigned to the sanitary inspector of the particular ward. It ensures quick and timely action in this fast paced world today.

HOW IT WORKS

Most of our Smartphones are equipped with Smart Cameras and people are doing everything possible using their phones. They are sharing text, images and videos on the Internet. The  Smartphone App strengthens the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” movement by making it more accessible called “Swachh Bharat App (Clean India App)”. Any Indian can download this “Clean India App” on their Smartphone and contribute to the noble cause by bringing to attention any cleanliness related issues to the concerned department HASSLE FREE.

Here is a list of the kind of complaints you can lodge on the Swachhata App by taking their picture and uploading on the App-

  • Garbage dump
  • Garbage vehicle not arrived
  • Dustbins not cleaned
  • Sweeping not done
  • Dead animals
  • Public toilet(s) cleaning
  • Public toilet(s) blockage
  • No water supply in public toilet(s)
  • No electricity in public toilet(s)

The App can track the location of the picture and it will re direct the issue to the concerned department thereby ensuring quick and timely action.

Once  the complainant registers his complaint, there will be regular updates on its status and the sanitary inspector will also have to upload a RESOLVED picture once the complaint is redressed.  . Citizens also have the power to rank the resolution to whichever level of satisfaction they deem appropriate.

The SWACHHATA APP is meant for instant redressal which means that there are timelines assigned to solve any complaint. For example, overflowing dustbins, garbage dumps and sweeping have to be done within 12 hours of lodging of a compliant. Complaints related to water supply or no electricity in public toilets or a blockage,  have to be fixed within 12 hours. A dead animal lying on the road will have to be removed within 48 hours. All these stringent guidelines will make sure that citizens and the country at large remains motivated and continue to work towards A CLEAN INDIA.

Across all the cities, its municipal officers and inspectors are answerable and are always under the scanner  to make sure there is no laxity in solving the problems. After all, A clean India is one of the most important paths that will lead us to our DREAM INDIA.

This REPUBLIC DAY, be a part of the Government's endeavor and use this App to make sure your surroundings are clean. Each effort counts, so make yours too. Cleaner surroundings are just a CLICK AWAY.

 Jai Hind.
