Ganesh Chaturthi  is a time when people turn their homes literally into pious temples in an endeavor to welcome Ganesha, the lord of prosperity and joy . A time for festivities, joy, celebration and fanfare, Ganeshotsav is celebrated not just in Maharashtra but elsewhere as well with much gusto around this time of the year. As much as the celebration is zestful, somehow its aftereffects are quite the opposite, especially when it comes to immersion of the Ganesha idol and decorations. Thankfully, rising environmental awareness has brought in some sense among Ganapati devotees in the past few years. Along with Eco Friendly Ganesha idols, the decorations have gone green as well.

 We talked about some amazing Green Ganesha idols last year and here are a few decor ideas to go eco friendly with it now-

1. USE CLAY

If the idol can be made of clay why not do the same with the decor? Get creative with your clay and make interesting backgrounds, forts, castles, mountains, the imagination can get as bold as possible. Paint it beautifully so that you can use it later as a showpiece at  your home.

2. FLOWERS, BAMBOOS, GRASS

What would make the Lord happier than a  scenic green surrounding? Use bamboo sticks, lay a grass carpet( you can grow grass fast on a ply board and create a mini garden). Decorate with flower pots, long bamboo shoots and beautiful garlands of your favorite flowers.

5. WALL MOUNT

We all have LED or LCD TVs mounted at are home right? There are endless ways to use cloth as drapes and shapes for decoarions. Convert your saree into mountains by attaching poles beneath or just drape it as a background.
